Visit Finch Foundry for free as part of Heritage Open Days. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of the last water-powered forge in England first-hand. As well as the waterwheels, working forge, grinding house, carpenters workshop and gallery museum, there is also a pretty cottage garden and a Quaker burying ground to visit.
Entrance is by guided tour only, held hourly starting at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Please book to guarantee a space.
Accessibility
Level access to visitor welcome (with a viewing window into the forge); the carpenter’s workshop (with a window onto the launder); and the toilets. The forge has some uneven steps and an uneven floor of compacted ash. The gallery is accessed by either uneven stone steps or a narrow wooden staircase.
The entrance to the car park is low and narrow (2.3m high x 2.0m wide), limited on-street parking is available.
