Healthy Eating for Diabetes Prevention and Management in Woolwich Dockyard

NaoDietetics will deliver a targeted diet and lifestyle education programme to complement the physical activity focus of the Champions for Change Physical Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes programme.

Participants will engage in fortnightly 1-hour sessions covering key topics around healthy eating, diabetes prevention and behaviour change.

The sessions will provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to make better food choices to support their health goals and physical training outcomes.

Target Audience:

• Adults and/or young people at risk of, or living with, type 2 diabetes
• Participants engaged in the Champions for Change programme
• Individuals from communities in Greenwich affected by health inequalities

2. Food & Blood Sugar: Carbs, protein, fats, and fibre
3. Portion Sizes & Food Labels
4. Meal Planning on a Budget
5. Food and Movement: Fueling for exercise and recovery
6. Gut Health and Weight Management
7. Behaviour Change: Mindset, barriers, motivation
8. Local Food Access and Community Support

Expected Outcomes:

1. Increased understanding of healthy eating and diabetes risk
2. Improved ability to make balanced food choices

4. Development of sustainable healthy habits in participants
