In the Wixárika tradition, healing and cleansing ceremonies are done for the soul and the spirit. Using prayer tools such as candles, feathers, sacred words, incense and the elements, “limpias” (cleanings) are performed with the help of the ancestors to bless a person’s life and path.
Healing is a collaboration between the participant, the healer, spirits and ancestors who are called upon to assist in the ceremony. Therefore, each participant should come with clear intentions and be prepared to express their feelings and needs. They should understand why they are requesting the healing.
There are many forms of healing protocols, and the process will be unique to each session.
