About this Event
My name is Jesse, and I'm a public school teacher in Hayward. My debut novel, The Fabric of Oblivion, is an introspective literary narrative about an autistic woman who is navigating her identity and her grief through her daydreams.
Sable moves through her life like an anomaly, her edges blurred by a world that insists on calling her Katherine, a name she no longer recognizes. Her days are a routine of dissonance: the wrong coffee, the wrong train, the wrong reflection. Each error is a hairline crack in a mask worn smooth.
She survives by translating her world into a dreamscape she calls The Loom, where memory is law and erasure is a tool of order. But this private mythology is becoming a cage, and the figures in her imagination are no longer following her script. To reclaim her own life, Sable must unravel the very story that has kept her safe, and face the devastating truth of why it was woven in the first place.
Please join me for a night of community and imagination that will include a chapter reading and a live moderated discussion, hosted by Hayward Voices. I can't wait for you to join me on this journey.
