Save the dates of Feb. 20th and 21st 2026 to come together and explore the emerging futures for Inclusive Dance Education in the U.S.
This gathering is being organized and produced mostly by volunteer effort, so we want to start as early as possible to find ways to meet the specific interests, creative gifts, and accessibility needs of each person participating. Even if you're not totally sure about the logistics for you to participate, please fill out this form now. You can always make changes later.

WEST COAST INCLUSIVE DANCE GATHERING #1
We will gather with artists, teachers, advocates, community members, students, and anyone interested in Inclusive Dance Education. We will spend two full days together exploring the momentum of Inclusive Dance “Movements” around the world, focusing on these questions:
---What has each of us learned, created, and envisioned in our diverse communities about Inclusive Dance Education?
---What is needed to expand and evolve Inclusive Dance Education locally, nationally, and internationally?
---What is inspiring us? What are the most energizing creative dreams and visions for the emerging futures of Inclusive Dance Education

Instead of solely engaging in a series of presentations, workshops and discussions, we will co-create a performance piece about the many layers of Inclusive Dance Education. Using creative, intuitive, scholarly, analytical, and intersectional approaches, all of the participants will be guided in a research-based collaboration to create a presentation that straddles the worlds of academic lecture, experimental performance, pedagogical training, and community town-hall entitled “Momentum: Emerging Futures of Inclusive Dance Education”.

We will record our findings and make them available as both a research report and a “how-to-handbook” for teaching, choreographing, directing, and researching Inclusive Dance.

This gathering is supported by Art Spark Texas, Dandelion Dancetheater, and the CSU East Bay Department of Theatre and Dance, and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. It will overlap with the California Dance Education Association’s annual conference at CSU East Bay (Feb. 21 - 22) and the CSUEB Center for Disability Justice’s “Disability Justice Week” (Feb. 17 - 21).
