With repertoire ranging from Louis Couperin to Alexina Louie, pianist Hayden Miller often travels beyond the canon of classical music, creating interdisciplinary experiences with visual artists, writers, actors, and dancers.

His 2026 season includes celebrations of Morton Feldman’s centenary with newly commissioned artwork as well as performances with the RIOT Ensemble. Upcoming projects include Monomania, seven new commissions for violin and piano about madness, and a concert celebrating musicians and composers from Texas.

An advocate for new music, Hayden’s performances with the Academy Manson Ensemble have been praised as containing “every nuance and every gradation of dynamic” (Matthew Johnson, The Music Professor). Curves of Longing, his debut recording of music by Stewart Lane, was called “one of only a handful of projects this year that has prompted more than a single listen” (Stereo Stickman) and received play on the BBC.

Additionally, Hayden has performed at the Folkestone New Music Festival, in the Tête-à-Tête Opera Festival, and in the first complete performance of György Kurtág’s Játékok. Composers he has worked with include Hans Abrahamsen, Augusta Read Thomas, and Anna Meredith.

Also an acclaimed solo artist, Hayden was a 2023 YoungArts winner whose performances have featured on NPR’s Encore Houston, at PianoTexas, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the International Florence Price Festival. His recent recital program, Fata Morgana, explored themes of illusion and allusion through US premieres of music by Philip Cashian and Eric Burton Davis.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Hayden is now based in London, where he studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Mei-Ting Sun. At the Academy, he received the WH and George Myddleton Award and the Best Original Cadenza prize for a cadenza to Mozart’s twenty-fifth piano concerto.

Previously, he received a diploma in Piano Performance from the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where he studied with Piper Ward and Jennifer Hayghe. He has also received invaluable mentorship from Catharine Lysinger and Becker KB.
