Join us for a twilight haunted hike along the historic Mission Trails, where nature, history, and folklore quietly overlap.The hike begins at 6 PM and meets inside the Blue Star Arts Complex, at the bench across the parking lot from Halcyon Coffee + Bar. Parking within the complex can be limited, so guests are strongly encouraged to park in the surrounding neighborhood. If you choose to park in the Blue Star parking lot, we kindly ask that you support the local businesses by purchasing a coffee or drink from Halcyon or stopping by Blue Star Provisions next door.
From our meeting point, we follow the river while exploring the living ecosystem that surrounds us. Along the way, we will talk about native birds and animals, how invasive species are actively changing the landscape, and how these shifts are reshaping the river environment in real time. This is a place that is very much alive, and that matters to the stories it holds.
As we continue along the trail, we will pause at select locations to share legends of San Antonio, accounts of strange encounters, regional ghost lore, and moments of true crime tied to the river and its crossings.
The highlight of the hike brings us to Mission Concepción, where we will gather to talk about Indigenous presence in the area, Indigenous displacement, and the enduring legends and spirits said to linger near the mission grounds. This stop offers space to reflect on who lived here long before the city, whose voices were lost, and why certain places continue to feel charged after dark.
The hike covers approximately 3.5 miles to the mission at a relaxed pace and lasts around three hours, with regular stops for storytelling, history, and observation. Comfortable closed toe walking shoes, water, and a sense of curiosity are encouraged.
This experience is part nature walk and part folklore gathering, inviting you to experience the Mission Trails through a darker and more reflective lens.
