About this Event
Welcome to the Harvard International Arbitration Conference!
Date: March 6-8, 2025
Location: Harvard Law School
Come join us for a 3-day conference filled with engaging discussions, insightful panels, and networking opportunities with professionals in the field of international arbitration. Whether you're a student, lawyer, or simply interested in international disputes, this conference is the perfect place to learn, connect, and exchange ideas.
The theme "Arbitration 100: Shaping the Next Century of International Dispute Resolution" is symbolic of two milestones we hope to celebrate at the 11th Annual Harvard International Arbitration Conference.
First, we wish to commemorate the centennial of the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA), enacted in 1925. Over the past 100 years, the FAA has been instrumental in establishing arbitration as a reliable and enforceable method of resolving commercial disputes in the United States, providing businesses with an efficient alternative to litigation.
Second, this conference also goes beyond commemorating U.S. arbitration history—it aims to explore the future of international arbitration as well. In today’s interconnected world, arbitration plays a pivotal role in resolving cross-border disputes, involving multinational corporations, investors, and governments. The event will bring together leading voices from the global arbitration community, including practitioners, scholars, and policymakers, to reflect on key milestones, examine trends, and discuss new challenges impacting arbitration worldwide.
Whether in commercial arbitration or investor-state disputes, the dialogue will focus on creating a system that is more accessible, fair, and forward-thinking—one that continues to meet the needs of a rapidly shifting economy and international legal order. Sessions will cover emerging topics such as technology-driven arbitration, diversity and inclusion in the field, and the evolving interplay between arbitration and national courts.
