Hard Hat Tour - AAPS: Slauson Middle School
About this Event
Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) is undertaking one of the largest capital improvement programs in the district's history. At Slauson Middle School, this entails a major renovation, removal of previous additions, programmatic shifts to make better use of the existing structure, and a strategic, limited addition.
The project demonstrates how adaptive reuse of an existing structure, strategic site planning, and integrated building systems can create flexible learning environments while reducing embodied carbon through the reuse of existing building materials.
During this hard hat tour, attendees will explore how these district-wide objectives were implemented at the middle school level on a constrained site with the considerations of a multi-year phased construction schedule.
Participants will received 1.5 HSW CEUs from AIA.
Participants should bring and wear a hard hat, hi-vis vest, safety glasses and closed toe shoes or boots. Some street parking is available on adjacent streets.
