TPL presents retired homicide detective and author Hank Idsinga in conversation with Wendy Gillis at the North York Central Library's Concourse Event Space.
In his bestselling memoir The High Road: Confessions of a Homicide Cop, Idsinga takes readers behind the crime scene tape and into the mean streets of Toronto's most notorious murders. Teaming up with partners including future police chief Mark Saunders, Idsinga built a reputation for excellent recall and sharp instinct, finding motive and method faster than most. As the public face of that investigation, Idsinga remained strong and compassionate before the cameras, even as the police force faced fierce criticism over its handling of the case.
How do homicide detectives carry the weight of the cases they never solve? What does real accountability within policing actually look like, and why does it matter?
