Sequences XII: Pása kynnir sýninguna "Handan Tímans" í Nýlistasafninu. Formleg opnun verður haldin 10. Október frá 17:00-19:00 í Marshallhúsinu þar sem tvær opnanir fara fram samtímis í Nýlistasafninu og Kling&Bang. Samhliða opnunum verður hægt að nálgast nýjustu útgáfu Dunce Magazine.
Handan tímans sameinar listamenn sem kanna pólitík tímans út frá sjónarhornum kynþáttahyggjunnar. Verk þeirra Santiago Mostyn, Sheida Soleimani, Ina Nian, Tabita Rezaire, Lagos Studio Archives og Sasha Huber endurspegla sögur nýlendustefnu, þrælahalds og kerfisbundinnar vanrækslu. Sýningin sækir innblástur í hugmyndir Christinu Sharpe um lífið „í kjölfar“ þrælahalds og skoðar hvernig tími og hæglæti eru metin og upplifuð með ólíkum hætti. Verkin varpa fram spurningum um hvaða sögur eru varðveittar, hverjum tíminn er helgaður og hvernig endurheimt tímans getur orðið að andspyrnu.
Sýning stendur yfir til 23. Nóvember á hefðbundum opnunartímum nýlistasafnsins í marshallhúsinu.
______________
Sequences XII: Pause presents "Aftertime" at the Living Art Museum. Join us for the official opening on 10 October between 5 and 7 pm.
Two simultaneous openings will take place at the Living Art Museum and Kling& Bang at the Marshall House. The newly released Dunce IV Magazine will be available at the opening.
Aftertime brings together artists exploring the politics of time through racialized perspectives. Santiago Mostyn, Sheida Soleimani, Ina Nian, Tabita Rezaire, Lagos Studio Archives, and Sasha Huber reflect on histories of colonization, slavery, and systemic neglect. Inspired by Christina Sharpe’s notion of living “in the wake” of slavery, the exhibition examines how time and slowness are unequally experienced and valued. These works question whose histories are remembered, whose time is honored, and how reclaiming time can be an act of resistance.
The exhibition is open until 23 November at the usual opening times of the Living Art Museum in the Marshallhouse.
