Open the Black Ledger and step into Wakefield’s darker past…

In collaboration with Wakefield Library’s WordFest Festival, join The Curator for a special Halloween presentation of the Black Ledger M**der Walk.

Beginning at Wakefield Museum, we’ll head out into the city streets to uncover some of Wakefield’s darkest true stories.

This isn’t a ghost walk.

These are stories of real murders, suspicious deaths, terrible accidents and strange crimes drawn from Wakefield’s history.

Hear the evidence, discover what happened and find out whether those accused were found guilty or innocent.

But there’s a twist…

For one case, the ending will remain hidden. You’ll hear the story and evidence before deciding the verdict yourselves.

Will your decision match the verdict delivered all those years ago?

Our journey eventually leads to The Black Horse on Westgate, where the Black Ledger closes for the night.

This special edition of the Black Ledger M**der Walk is presented in collaboration with Wakefield Library’s WordFest Festival.

⚠️ Important Information

• Age guidance: 12+ — some stories include themes of M**der, death, crime, suicide and historical violence.

• Accessibility: This is a walking tour through Wakefield city centre and may include uneven pavements, kerbs and steps. Please contact the organiser in advance regarding access requirements.

• Weather: The walk takes place outdoors and goes ahead in most weather conditions. Please dress appropriately.

Guests remain responsible for their own safety while walking through public areas.
