Tell Us Your Favourite Things About Wakefield - the final 50!

We think Wakefield is a great place to live, to work, or to visit and we think it's time to focus on the good things about our city - so come along to this event to help us celebrate what is best about Wakefield.

Yes, we know: Wakefield has its problems but, just occasionally at least, it does us all good to focus on the positive rather than the negative.

Earlier this year, we asked people to tell us their favourite things about Wakefield - and we were not disappointed.....

We received around 600 nominations!

We sifted through these to identify the duplicates and to group ideas and themes together to create a shortlist for people to vote on. That shortlist was put to a publlic vote in late July/early August and we will be announcing the final 50 at our special event which we are holding as part of Heritage Open Days 2026. Come along and hear about 'The Story of Wakefield in 50 Objects'.

Please note that we will be taking photographs of the event to help us promote the work of the Society. Photographs could be used in our social media posts, our publications - both in print and on-line, and in our presentations. If you do not wish to be photographed, please speak to one of the organisers.
