About this Event
What to Expect
Why wait until October to start building your best look? The Cosplay Sewing Lab is a focused construction workshop designed for cosplayers, convention-goers, and theatrical creators of all levels. Whether you are prepping for a summer convention like Blerdcon or simply want to create something fantastical before the fall rush, this is your time to focus on complex alterations and custom builds in a structured, professional environment.
This lab is uniquely structured to guide you through the process of altering and constructing complex garments, often starting with thrifted or basic clothing as a foundation. It is a highly creative and technical session where we turn ordinary items into extraordinary pieces. We will move through foundational construction techniques, complex alterations, and creative problem-solving together, ensuring you leave with a significant portion of your costume completed and the skills to finish it on your own.
I will be there as your constructor and mentor, providing hands-on assistance and one-on-one troubleshooting throughout the class. We will navigate the specific structural challenges that come with making theatrical or fantasy garments. You will get practical experience in adapting regular clothing, making fitting adjustments, and using specialized sewing tools, all while working on a project that is uniquely yours.
