About this Event
HAIR-etage Conversations LIVE is an immersive gathering, part of the My Crown My Way Book tour designed to celebrate the deep connection between hair, heritage, and self-care. More than just a conversation, this multi-media experience is a sensory-rich journey that honors the beauty, traditions, and stories woven into our crowns. Through meaningful discussions, curated art exhibitions, and intentional reflection, we create a sacred environment where attendees can explore the role of hair in shaping identity, fostering self-love, and preserving cultural legacy.
Each event is uniquely designed to engage the senses, offering art installations that visually narrate the history and evolution of black hair, alongside a signature tea experience from Itutu Apothecary & Tea, crafted for reflection and restoration. Depending on the location, guests will step into a thoughtfully curated atmosphere that invites them to reflect, share, and embrace their personal hair journeys. Through intimate conversations with cultural storytellers, hair historians, wellness experts, and community voices, we explore hair as an identity marker and a source of empowerment, celebrating its role in our lives as a reflection of who we are.
HAIR-etage Conversations LIVE is more than an event it is a movement, an archive, and a sacred space where we reclaim, redefine, and reimagine our Hair-etage. Whether you’re coming to listen, learn, or share, you’ll leave feeling seen, affirmed, and inspired to embrace your crown in all its glory.
Join us for HAIR-etage Conversations LIVE and step into a space where our hair stories are honored, our heritage is celebrated, and self-care becomes a deeper act of love.
ABOUT THE HOSTS:
My Crown, My Way is a joyful and empowering children’s book co-authored by mother-daughter duo Namia McCallop and Naheemah McMicheaux McCallop, celebrating the beauty of natural hair and the importance of the C.R.O.W.N. Act. Designed as a social-emotional learning tool, it helps young readers embrace their natural textures, build confidence, and honor cultural heritage. With vivid illustrations, K–5 lesson plans, and educational resources, the book sparks meaningful “HAIR-etage” conversations in homes, classrooms, and communities—promoting self-expression, advocacy, and the right to be seen, celebrated, and safe in every space.
Founded by Kia Croom, Itutu Apothecary & Tea Room is a community-rooted space dedicated to folk herbalism —the ancestral practice of using plants and natural remedies to support healing and wellness. As herbalists for the people, our mission is to help you prioritize self-care and embrace practices that foster a balanced, joyous, and liberated life. Our goal is to make herbalism accessible and seamlessly integrated into your everyday life. Whether you're exploring our eclectic bulk herbs, savoring our medicinal tea blends, attending a tea experience, or joining us on an international Indigenous herbalism retreat, we’re here to guide and support your wellness journey.
