Haiku Death Match at Coffee Underground

Sunday, July 27, 2025 Haiku Death Match!!! Host Black Phoenix. Poets bring your haikus to compete in our annual Haiku Death Match (National Style). Poets should have at least 40 haiku to compete. Winner will receive $200. Brief open mic sign up by 7:15pm. Audience must be 18+ as some haikus may contain mature content. Competitors should bring 20+haiku for the best chance to win.

Haiku is a formal Japanese form of poetry that typically dealt with seasons or transitions. Simply put, it is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables. How the HAIKUSTERS choose to manipulate those syllables, or three lines, depends upon their own flavor. Poets in this Haiku death match go head to head with their best haikus. Who will be the next Haiku master!!!
