Explore nature through the lens of an ecological designer!
About this Event

In this class we will tour some of the gardens that have brought monarch butterflies to the streets of southeast Lancaster city! We will practice using valuable community science apps, like iNaturalist, demystifying how to utilize them for our own habitat work and supporting research in this growing field.

Participants are responsible for providing their own sturdy shoes, attire for mild walking, sun protection, and refillable water bottle. They are also encouraged to bring a cellphone with the iNaturalist app downloaded.

The Lancaster Conservancy has protected over 11,000 acres of natural lands, which are critically important to supporting biodiversity. Smaller patches of native habitats spread throughout urban landscapes are also essential to creating corridors of habitat – food and refuge – for wildlife. This is why we are offering our Habitat Advocate classes at Tec Centro in Lancaster City.

The cost of the Habitat Advocate classes covers instructor fees. If the cost of this class is prohibitive, please reach out to Keith Williams, VP of Engagement and Education, at [email protected].
