About this Event
The American Rifleman is an essential figure throughout our nation's history. From the creation of these United States, when common men and women from all walks of life bore their personally owned arms to defend against injustices from the best trained and most feared military the world had ever seen - their own British regulars... through the reputation that has permeated every generation since, best described by Japanese Admiral Yamamoto who explained during WW2, "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." ... to the modern Rifleman's steadfast relevance today in continuing to defend our Constitution from all enemies.
If the AR15, AK47, or similar magazine-fed, semi-automatic rifle platform is a part of your defense plans for home, community, or Liberty, then please join us to learn how it best applies to the self defense of the civilian! This unique and proven course builds quickly to advanced skills that will sharpen and improve even the seasoned rifle operator, yet is truly designed to help anchor correct technique with a blank canvas. A new carbine owner would be well served and off to a safe and sound start. No prerequisites are required. The round count has been closely scrutinized and reduced to only 200 rounds for the weekend. Bring more than that if you can.
Tactical Rifle Fundamentals is created with the average civilian rifle owner in mind, and how to best apply any handgun skills already anchored to our long guns.
Throughout the day, we will extensively cover:
-- Firearm Safety
-- Recommended Rifle Setup and Gear, and why!
-- Marksmanship Fundamentals
-- Supported and Unsupported Field Positions (Standing, Kneeling, Seated, Prone)
-- How to discover and quickly and consistently find one's Natural Point of Aim (NPOA)
-- Clear understanding of Minute of Angle (MOA) and how to easily use it in the field
-- Ready Positions
-- Recoil Control
-- Trigger Management
-- Various Reloading Techniques
-- Malfunction Diagnosis and Clearing
-- Transition to Secondary Weapon System (Handgun)
-- And much more!
All skills are reinforced and measured with drills that will challenge and improve you!
REQUIRED ITEMS - and some suggestions that will help you get the most out of your class:
--Notebook and writing utensils! Please take notes!
--Reliable Carbine and Handgun, properly cleaned and lubricated - spare firearms may be a wise choice in the event of a major failure. Carbine must have iron sights or optic.
--Rifle Sling - we strongly recommend a 2 point sling for this class. An excellent example is the Vickers VCAS sling.
--Handgun Holster - Outside the Waistband (OWB) holster preferred. To be permitted for use, it must cover the handgun’s trigger guard, provide adequate retention, and allow you to reholster one-handed. Please avoid any holster that causes you to release retention devices with your trigger finger (e.g. Blackhawk Serpa).
--Spare Carbine Magazines - minimum 3, more is better
--Carbine Magazine Carrier - belt pouch and/or chest rig, plate carrier, etc. - I run both and explain why in class.
--Sandbags, bipod, bag, etc to support your carbine while zeroing
--Shooting mat, blanket, etc for prone shooting (optional)
--400 rounds carbine ammo
--50 rounds handgun ammo
--Eye and Ear protection
--Billed hat, Shirt with a high collar or tight neck, and appropriate clothing for shooting outdoors despite the weather
--PLENTY of water, Gatorade, etc, hand sanitizer, snacks, sunscreen, and any other comfort items you may need
Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be given less than 14 calendar days prior to the class date. Students can be rescheduled for free up to 7 days prior to the class date. Rescheduling requests less than 7 days prior to the class will be subject to a $50 rescheduling fee.
