Central Presbyterian Church, located at 3501 Campbell in Kansas City, MO, is hosting the second annual volunteer safe surrender and dismantling event on Saturday, October 25 where individuals can safely and anonymously surrender their unwanted firearms without putting them back onto the street. This is not a buy back. Anyone can anonymously surrender their unwanted firearms, which will be dismantled on-site, melted down, and fashioned into garden tools (or jewelry, artwork, etc.). A gift card for a grocery store will be offered as a token of appreciation and thanks for each surrendered firearm.In addition to offering this opportunity to surrender unwanted firearms, we are seeking volunteers to help during the event in the following roles:
Greeters (welcome and explain process)
Firearm Inspectors (ensure guns are unloaded)
Shepherds (to accompany surrenderer through process)
Dismantlers (operate chop saws and other tools)
Runners (transport gift cards)
Counselors (on hand to provide emotional support)
Volunteer training will be held on dates closer to the event.
