"To witness Guitar Wolf live on stage is to experience the magnificent and unfathomable power that is JET ROCK & ROLL. The Japanese garage-punk gods will close out Aotearoa's wet and windy summer with a massive nationwide tour, kicking off in late February.
Founded by eponymous frontman Seiji in 1987, Guitar Wolf have proven to be a major influence on distorto-riff loving rock freaks across the globe, and have toured multiple times with NZ's own The D4. Their speaker-busting oeuvre includes such classic records as Wolf Rock!, Planet of the Wolves, Jet Generation, unhinged feature length horror movie Wild Zero, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. As Clean Dirt accurately declares, "YOU WILL HAVE GREAT TIME" when Guitar Wolf bust loose at the following dates — touring their just-announced upcoming new album MORE JET...
There are garage-rock bands, and then there’s Tokyo terrors Guitar Wolf... This band’s style of rock’n’roll demands more imposing prefixes, like “jet,” “hurricane,” and “Kawasaki ZII 750.” Much as 1960s British Invasion groups bastardized the blues and sold it back to American teens, Guitar Wolf have spent the past 30(+) years making once-rebellious Stateside sounds—surf, rockabilly, Nuggets, CBGB punk—seem dangerous again, forsaking retro purism for monomania. Your typical garage band might make your ears ring; this one kills zombies." - Pitchfork
