Get ready for foraging, feral snacks, and possible wildlife viewing! This walking tour will focus on basic foraging guidelines, ethical harvesting, and plant identification. Along the way, we’ll meet edible plants, learn what’s safe to nibble, take in some info about the bald eagle nest as we pass by it, and get to know the flavors of late summer.
I’ll share pre-prepared feral snacks and beverages so participants can safely taste wild foods without harvesting heavily from the landscape. Participants will receive a handout on basic foraging guidelines and equipment at the end of the walk.
With flat terrain, this walk is appropriate for adults and children 10+. We will walk roughly 1-2 miles round-trip. Come learn the edible landscape of early summer and see what’s growing right at your feet. Let’s get a little feral on the West River Trail!
The rain date for this event is Sunday, August 30th.
Fees are $25 per person. Children 12 and under are free.
