Melbourne General Cemetery opened in 1853, and is a world class necropolis, as it is one of the first designed as a public park. It features gothic architecture, notable interments and at least two ghosts. Come on a mid-winter guided tour with us and experience the atmosphere of Late Victorian Melbourne's premier post-funeral destination at a most funereal time of year.
Date: Saturday 11th July
Time: 4.45pm for a 5.00pm start, 6pm finish then dinner

Cost: free for tour but bring money for dinner

Departing the elaborate gothic Main Entrance gates at 5pm, we will walk through the older part of the Cemetery examining cemetery architecture, famous interments, funerary customs and Melbourne folklore. The Cemetery closes at 6pm, so we will continue with our tour guide to the historic Wild Geese Hotel for dinner.
It could be chilly, so wear your warmest Victorian garb!
Tour size is limited and pre-ordering of dinner may be necessary depending on numbers.
