Let's switch the narrative to show female achievements often overlooked. This is more than just history. It's HERSTORY.About this Event
It's our usual fascinating walk between two of London’s most famous landmarks, but this time with a difference.
Any historical tour's narrative can be changed to show women's contributions and achievements and to highlight bias and discrimination which is often overlooked ... and that's exactly what we do on this tour.
We start at the the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral, learn of men establishing YMCA's and Grand Lodges, we learn the sad story of the much maligned Queen Anne (was her reign really such a failure?), we hear of female firefighters in the Blitz, pass building that issues coats of arms ("Arms are only transmitted through a female line when there is a failure of male heirs"), the role of women at Shakespeares' Globe, the Clink's women's rules for Pr*son and what happened to the women who worked as working girls for the Bishop of Winchester. And there's more.
We'll leave you at Borough Market for a spot of lunch or a riverside drink to ponder the tour!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What's the tour like?
I write all my own tours so get ready for some new stuff! I don't assume any prior knowledge of history and the tour is suitable for locals or tourists. There'll be time for questions and conversation (about the tour or about London in general ). I'll show you pictures and tell you lots of stories to really make the tour come to life.
Are men also allowed on the tour?
Yes they are. For two main reasons. Firstly inequality against women is also a men's issue. And secondly it would be illegal.
Will the tour go ahead if there is bad weather?
Yes it will. Please wear appropriate clothing.
How many people will be in the group?
I have a maximum of 12 people so that you have a better experience.
Can I cancel my ticket?
Yes. If you cancel a week in advance you can get a 100% refund.
What if I am late?
I prefer it if you arrive ten minutes earlier than start so that we can chat.
Once the tour starts it's very hard for me to answer the phone but I will give you my mobile number (it's best to SMS or whatsapp)
Please visit the Transport for London website to plan your travel to the start of the tour and find out about any travel issues (train as, underground etc)
Are you insured?
Yes I have public liability insurance, but everyone is responsible for their own safety so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
