Parsons Cemetery will present a docent-guided tour of our many trees on October 25th, 2025, at 1 PM. The beautiful ground at Parsons includes an amazing 60 tree species. All of these trees were recently identified and mapped through the efforts of Dr Brent Zaprowski, Madeline Zaprowski, and Dr Joan Maloof. Parsons Cemetery is soon to become Salisbury’s second official arboretum.
The trees tell the rich history of Parsons. Some of the trees were there when the Cemetery was founded in 1873 and were part of Salisbury’s thriving lumber industry at that time. Others were planted to honor departed family members. Within the last year, nearly 30 more were added through grants from the Beach to Bay Foundation and the City of Salisbury.
Come and enjoy an interesting discussion while walking through the beautiful, well-maintained grounds of the cemetery. The tour will last approximately 1 hour and is about 1 1/4 miles in distance. Most areas are wheelchair accessible in that the trees are near roads or walkways.
The rain date will be November 1st at the same time.
