On October 25th, 2025, at 11 AM Parsons Cemetery will hold a ceremony dedicating the historic flagpole and the related information Kiosk that is near the cemetery office. We don’t know when the flagpole was originally installed, but we do know it was the site of Salisbury’s Memorial Day Ceremonies from at least 1924 until 1955. In those years, Salisbury held an annual parade which came down New York Avenue and ended at Parsons Cemetery.
In 2010, Parsons Cemetery chose the site for its new office building, which was made possible through the sale of the original office on London Avenue. The flagpole remained in its original position but was unused.
In 2023, Volunteers renovated and lighted the flagpole and added a holder for the flags of all 7 military service branches at it base.
In 2025, Parsons added a kiosk telling the history of the flagpole and both will be dedicated at this ceremony.
The rain date is November 1st at the same time.
