Join us on this guided tour in the exhibition Under Ground at Bryggens Museum.
You will see the treasures that were excavated, learn about the everyday life of the Middle Ages in the city and in the country.
The wast archaeological excavations at Bryggen in the 1950s and 60s opened a new door to the “dark” Middle Ages. Several meters underground, an almost inexhaustible treasure trove hid.
Ceramic fragments from all corners of the world. Game pieces, gold rings and fishing hooks. Shoes and soles in large numbers. A mighty sword. Declarations of love, prayers and business letters engraved with runes on wooden sticks. A small toy horse in a boss mound.
