On the occasion of "Ni Musmut (It’s Breezing)" by Edgar Calel, Bergen Kunsthall invites you to a talk by Katya García-Antón. García-Antón will discuss the creative practice of Calel, and how his perspectives on the relations of kinship between humans, earth and all its elements, challenge Western epistemologies and systems of value. The talk will focus on the new works he has made in situ for his exhibition in Bergen Kunsthall, one of which is made with his family, and how they highlight the artist´s engagement with the Mayan Kaqchikel cosmovision, the notion of ritual as a form of research and practice, as well as the connections Calel establishes between these concepts and practices to other cultural contexts.
