Guided Nature Hike with Arabia Mountain Naturalists

What to expect: Join a guided hike with Arabia Mountain's Naturalist to learn about Arabia’s ecology and human history. We’ll share our favorite spots and how to hike safely and responsibly to reduce impact. Don't forget to bring water!

Program leader: Your guide will be Ranger Robby Astrove, Park Naturalist at Arabia Mountain, or Ranger Doffice Johnson, a Park Ranger at Arabia Mountain.

Where to meet: Find the Ranger at the Nature Center (3787 Klondike Rd.).

What to bring: Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and outdoor hiking shoes. Please bring your own reusable water bottle. We also encourage wearing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection, as well as insect repellent to keep the bugs at bay. Sunscreen and bug spray are available in the Nature Center.

Restrooms: Public restrooms are available in front of the Nature Center. You will look for a brown building with red doors.

Recommended ages: This program content is designed for all ages.

Dogs: This program is appropriate for dogs. We ask that they stay leashed throughout the entirety of the program.

Weather contingency: This program will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs (RPCA).

Walking distance: Varies from week to week. Approximately 3 miles.

Exposure: Varies from week to week. Some trails are under a shaded canopy while others are in full sun.

Trail surface & accessibility: This program stays on established soft trails of mixed terrain. There are sections of the walk that are quite steep and also have exposed roots. While participants are welcome to take their own photos, photographs taken by staff are generally intended for County documentation and promotional purposes and are not routinely distributed to participants.
