Renowned Philadelphia-based ensemble Variant 6 presents a concert of virtuosic vocal chamber music for five voices, from Renaissance classics to 20th-century gems to pieces written in the last decade. Known for their “astonishing tonal focus, pinpoint intonation, subtlety of expression and sheer vocal virtuosity” (Gramophone), this ensemble will highlight the extent of possibilities available to one-on-a-part voices, featuring the music of Grimace, Claudio Monteverdi, Maurice Ravel, Benjamin Britten, Herbert Howells, and living composers Benjamin C.S. Boyle, David Shapiro, and Gabriel Jackson.
