(Adelle Elwood) again retreated to her Halifax bedroom to self-produce, engineer, and compose her new collection, thank u and please and don’t go. The follow-up to her award-winning debut, The Sparrows All Find Food, this new record builds on her strong foundation of melody and beats, expanding her medium-fidelity pop into a more robust sound. Though born in Nova Scotia, Elwood now resides in Montreal. While the lyrics are a litany of anxious one-line worries and shame spirals—from climate change lament to social embarrassment—her music is at its most confident, crafting indie-pop in solitude that rivals any hitmaker’s production.
