GSAR Train the Trainer

The GSAR Train the Trainer Course is a master class, allowing existing SAR volunteers the opportunity to step into a teaching role for ISARC. Eligible students will learn to lead the various components of the GSAR class, including field exercises and classroom instruction. Additionally, SarTopo for field work preparation, paperwork completion, Dropbox instructions, and the Instructor Matrix will be reviewed.

To be eligible to participate in the GSAR Train the Trainer course, participants must:

• Successfully complete ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800

• Successfully completed at least one (1) ISARC BNAV course, if membership began after 1/1/21

• Successfully completed two (2) ISARC GSAR courses

• Be a member in good standing of an ISARC member agency in good standing

• Receive approval by the ISARC member agency's point of contact

• Be recommended by an ISARC GSAR Lead Instructor

After participating in the GSAR Train the Trainer Course, new instructors must:

• Teach a classroom and field component at least once every two (2) years

• Attend ISARC's annual Instructor Updates Meeting

• Submit continuing education hours every three years or retake an ISARC GSAR course
