“Grow Your Garden” is The Wright’s signature Earth Month program, now in its second year. Designed for all ages and experience levels, this interactive event promotes sustainable living through gardening, cultural heritage, and Detroit-based environmental leadership.
This year’s theme, "Living Sustainably in Your Backyard," highlights four growing environments through hourly keynotes, each followed by a raffle giveaway. We are planting seeds for a greener, healthier city.
Roll through with your non-GMO seeds, native plants, garden tools and books to swap and keep items out of our landfill!
PROGRAM:
- Garden Swap – Bring your non GMO- Seeds, plants, gardening tools, and books
- Garden Craft Corner – Recycled arts & crafts station
- Info Tables – Local orgs on composting, chickens, native plants, pollinators, food sovereinty, and more.
- Community Partners – include - Keep Growing Detroit, Greening of Detroit, City of Detroit, Blacks to the Land, and more
PRESENTATIONS:
- 1PM – Gardening 101 – for urban dwellers and more
- 2PM – Backyard Gardening
- 3PM – Community Gardens
- 4PM – Vacant Lot / Plot Farming – learn to be a land steward
