GrooveSession Ft. Joe Marcinek - Live at the Crazy Horse

GrooveSession has a storied history at the Crazy Horse, having played countless performances here since 2014. These include a pair of New Year’s Eve shows to close out 2022. They are also on the short list of bands to land a coveted slot playing Nevada City’s Rosebud Ranch. To get a good idea of what they’re all about, look to their song called “Last Gig.” It centers on embracing every moment to its fullest and taking nothing for granted. We all need that reminder more than ever these days, don’t we? They are the embodiment of a band that holds nothing back and leaves it all on stage.
Going back to their roots as a power trio, they are fueled by the thunderous rhythmic duo of brothers Manny and Ronnie Sanchez. Considering the animated facial expressions of the former and the flowing mane of the latter, perpetually blown by a fan in cinematic fashion, GrooveSession is as fun to watch as they are to hear. This pair approach the drums and bass with a cartoonish ferocity not unlike The Muppets. They break the floodgates with raw intensity while maintaining breathtaking finesse. Manny also happens to be one of the best singing drummers you’ll ever witness. Levon Helm would agree!
Joining them on guitar is Joe Marcinek of the Joe Marcinek Band and Dead Funk Summit. Originating from the Midwest, he has established a formidable reputation stemming from many super group arrangements, featuring such illustrious collaborators as Melvin Seals, George Porter Jr., Stanton Moore, Mononeon, Tony Hall (Dumpstaphunk) and countless others. These includes members of The Motet, Pretty Lights, Soulive, Phil Lesh and Friends and The Nth Power, just to name a few. His soaring, melodic guitar lines will take us to the promised land.
Drawing from a wealth of truly inspiring original material and tantalizing covers, GrooveSession will whip the dance floor into a frenzy at the drop of a hat. When that signature funky, rocking, swampy soul hits the airwaves, you’ll have no choice but to surrender. Forays through So. Cal reggae territory and copious amounts of freewheeling improv ensure that the fun never stops.
