About this Event

The first Japanese immigrants came to Pasadena in the early 1900s, many to create and nurture the Japanese-style gardens and arts that were captivating the imaginations of the American people at the time. Over the years, they flourished, opening nurseries, laundries, florists, groceries, churches, and community centers, contributing their labor, rich culture, and business acumen to the fabric of Pasadena and the LA region. Join local author Naomi Hirahara on a walking exploration of some of these fascinating people and times in the heart of Old Pasadena.
