1944. In the middle of an air raid, a postman dies unexpectedly on the operating table of a rural hospital. The death is put down to natural causes but later one of the medical staff loudly interrupts a party to announce to the guests that the dead man was murdered and that they have proof. No prizes for guessing what fate befalls them soon after.
Sidney Gilliat's Green for Danger features Trevor Howard and Sally Gray among the suspects and Alastair Sim in a marvelous turn as Scotland Yard's insouciant Inspector Cockrill. Gilliat, who had worked with Hitchcock on such films as The Lady Vanishes and Jamaica Inn, slyly upends whodunit conventions with wit and style. The film is based on the classic 1944 detective novel by Christianna Brand.
Our screenings involve licensing, utilities, equipment and building costs, so our pricing is built on trust and solidarity. Paying what you can helps keep the space open and accessible for everyone, and if you are able to choose a higher tier, it helps others attend who may not otherwise be able to. Please choose the tier you can comfortably afford. Solidarity, not charity!
