Born and raised in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky (yes, the one from John Prine’s “Paradise”), Grayson Jenkins grew up on a small goat and horse farm in the heart of coal country. A songwriter, storyteller, and traveler at heart, Jenkins writes with a curious eye for truth, drawing inspiration from conversations, hard moments, and the unexpected details of everyday life. His songs have earned a loyal following and the support of fellow artists like Pony Bradshaw, Vincent Neil Emerson, and Nicholas Jamerson, who have all taken him on the road in recent years.
After more than a decade in Lexington, where he studied agriculture and worked for the University of Kentucky, Jenkins now spends much of his time traveling and touring, with over a quarter-million miles logged across the U.S., UK, and Canada while keeping Kentucky as his home base. Like fellow Kentuckians Sturgill Simpson and Keith Whitley, he’s carved out his own corner of country music through four independent albums, relentless touring, and festival appearances at Railbird Music Festival, Master Musicians Festival, and beyond. His music has also been featured by American Songwriter and The Bluegrass Situation.
Rooted in Kentucky’s storytelling tradition, Jenkins writes songs shaped by travel, lived experience, and a search for truth—stories in which listeners might just find a little of their own.
