Gourd Ornament Decorating with Abeni Piersen

Workshop Description

This holiday workshop invites you to slow down and add heartfelt meaning to your holiday season. Instead of store-bought décor, you’ll craft your own one-of-a-kind gourd ornaments, transforming natural gourds into keepsakes that reflect your personality and creativity.

We will provide everything you need, from gourds to paints, embellishments, and finishing touches, so that you can focus on the joy of making. Whether you keep your ornaments or give them as gifts, they’ll carry the memory of time well spent in community, creating something unique together.

Ages 10+ welcome! Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Please note we have a sliding scale for tickets for this event! The break down is as follows:

About the Artist

Abeni Pierson is a fiber artist and educator based in California. After studying fashion design at Columbia College in Chicago, she shifted paths upon realizing the environmental harm and wastefulness of the fashion industry. This awakening led her to explore more sustainable practices rooted in nature. Through pine needle basketry, Abeni creates work that honors traditional folk methods while promoting environmental mindfulness and hands-on creativity.
