Athena is no ordinary instrument. She was born on a Welsh mountainside, created by a shamanic Portuguese gong maker who I entrusted with my story of sepsis recovery and life’s traumas. I asked him to craft me a gong engraved with a phoenix, to symbolise my rising from the ashes.

The process of her birth was extraordinary. A gong begins life as a flat alloy – hammered, engraved, and placed in the fire to reveal its colour. What usually takes minutes took Athena an hour and a half. Her maker messaged me mid-process: “She is struggling to be born.” Hearing this Jess began a shamanic drumming ceremony in her client studio, crying her eyes out, while he held his own ceremony in his studio – both of us calling her through. He later told me it was the most intense making experience he had ever witnessed.

Athena, forged in fire and ceremony, carries immense power. Her voice is rich, grounding, and deeply transformative – a true embodiment of wisdom and resilience.

Jess weaves together her lifelong love of music with her expertise as a certified coach, Master NLP practitioner, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) facilitator. With over 20 years of experience in the music industry and a deep understanding of how sound, rhythm, and vibration influence the body, she creates a safe and soothing space to let go, reset, and reconnect.
