Erre a kérdésre keresi a választ Gombkötő Emma fotóriporter Familiar Strangers / Ismerős Idegenek című kiállítása, amely júniusban a Mad Dog Coffee Hangárban debütál.
Emma 25 évesen egy hónapot töltött Indonéziában (Jáva, Bali, Flores) Németországban élő keresztapukájával. A kezdeti kulturális sokk után, a robogóktól zsúfolt, párás utcák mögött olyan világot ismert meg, ahol a hétköznapi nehézségek mellett is megfér az őszinte nyitottság, kedvesség és alázat.
A 12 kiállított kép kivétel nélkül, telefonnal készült – a nehéz technika elhagyása tette lehetővé azt a közvetlenséget és spontaneitást, amivel Emma, ha kis időre is, de be tudott épülni a helyiek életébe. A fotók melletti személyes gondolatok és kérdések interaktív belső utazásra hívják a látogatót.
Megnyitó: 2026. június 24. (szerda) 18:30 – az eseményre tematikus, indonéz falatokkal készülünk.
Helyszín: Mad Dog Hangár (1134 Budapest Dózsa György u. 61-63.)
A kiállítás fő támogatója a Indonéz Köztársaság Nagykövetsége, akik egy hivatalos vendéggel is megtisztelik a megnyitót.
A fotókiállítás megtekinthető a Mad Dog nyitvatartási idejében július 22-ig.

When was the last time you felt at home in a foreign place?
This is the question photojournalist Emma Gombkötő explores in her exhibition “Familiar Strangers” at the Mad Dog Coffee Hangar.
At the age of 25, Emma spent a month in Indonesia (Java, Bali, Flores) with her godfather, who lives in Germany. Beyond the streets crowded with scooters and the culture shock, she found a world where it is not money that rules, but selfless helpfulness and humility.
All 12 of the exhibited photos were taken with a phone—abandoning heavy equipment allowed for the immediacy and spontaneity that enabled Emma to blend into the locals’ daily lives. The personal reflections and questions accompanying the photos invite visitors on an interactive inner journey.
Opening: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. – for that we'll prepare thematic, Indonesian bites.
Location: Mad Dog Hangar (61-63 Dózsa György Street, Budapest 1134)
The main sponsor of the exhibition is the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, which will honor the opening with an official guest.
The photo exhibition will be on view during Mad Dog’s regular hours until July 22.
