This consultation event will showcase a scoping review on global mental health system responses for youth with intellectual disabilities.
About this Event

This consultation event will showcase the process and initial findings of our ongoing scoping review project titled: "How health, social care, and welfare systems respond to the mental health support needs of adolescents and young people with intellectual disabilities across low-, middle-, and high-income countries: A Scoping Review"

As a consultation event, the purpose of the session will be gathering your reflections and opinions on our project and it's next steps. The event will be held at 2pm until 5pm (UK time) on the 2`1st of July 2026.

This global event is open to all those who are interested, such as academics, professionals, policymakers, individuals with intellectual disabilities and their carers or trusted persons. We hope to see you there!

The event is designed to be relaxed and engaging, including:

  • An introduction and keynote speech from Professor Jill Stavert.
  • An insight into the Intellectual Disabilities research cluster at Edinburgh Napier University and this project from Dr Lisa O'Leary.
  • A presentation to outline the process and initial findings of the project from Chloe Kennedy.
  • Collaborative consultation of views about our review and it's findings.
  • Discussion of ideas for improvement and research funding priorities.
  • Tea, coffee, cakes and networking throughout.

This event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing interested individuals to attend in-person or online. The in-person event will take place at Edinburgh Napier University's Sighthill Campus (Main entrance pictured below).

Please see the FAQs section for more information about travelling to and attending the event.

If you have any other questions, please contact Chloe Kennedy ([email protected] or 0131 455 5672) or Dr. Lisa O'Leary ([email protected]).

This event is being organised by Edinburgh Napier Univesity in collaboration with the Intellectual Association for Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IASSIDD). We hope to see you there for a relaxed afternoon of research discussion!
