About this Event
In this two-day workshop students will learn the introductory skills of glassblowing, such as: how to gather molten glass out of the furnace and how to work in small teams in the glass studio! While focusing on building these new handskills, students will learn how to make colorful glassware in beginner forms such as solid sculptures, cups and experimental shapes.
What to Expect: Over the weekend class, students will learn how to gather and manipulate molten glass. There will be some demos but it will mainly be supported work time and room for students to become familiar with this material. The students can expect to leave with solid sculptures and blown vessels. Expect failures along with successes. The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page. Handling glass and tools may require a certain level of dexterity and ability to lift 5-10 lbs approximately. To learn more about accessibility the Accessibility page on our website.
Eligibility: No previous experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
