Girl Scouts Love State Parks: Birding and Nature Hike

We are excited to participate in Girls Scouts Loves State Parks once again. This annual event comes together with the support of the National Association of State Park Directors, Girl Scouts USA, and state park systems across the country providing opportunities only experienced in state parks. Scouts are encouraged to get outside, actively explore state parks, and demonstrate stewardship by giving back to the parks they love.
At Seven Islands State Birding Park, we are excited to offer a guided birding and nature hike along the trails at the park for scouts and their chaperones. We will be hiking approximately 2.5 miles along paved and dirt trails for an easy-to-moderate difficulty hike. Participants will learn about the birds found at Seven Islands and how to identify them by sight and sound, and even how to use an app to help identify birds! We will also be learning about the diverse wildlife and vegetation found in the park, including flowers, plants, insects, trees, frogs, and mammals. The program will start at 9:00 AM at the Bluebird Barn and garden area by the main parking lot off of Kelly Lane.
Registration for this hike is $6.00 per person. The Girl Scouts Love State Parks patch itself is not included in this program, and would need to be purchased on your own through a troop or Girl Scout shop. Participants should bring bottled water with them and wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the hike.
