Fall migration is one of the best times of year to explore the birds of Seven Islands State Birding Park. Join Ranger Clare for a guided walk to look for migrating warblers, vireos, sparrows, and other birds as they pass through East Tennessee on their journey south. We’ll learn how to identify birds by sight and sound and talk about the challenges birds face during migration. Whether you’re new to birding or an experienced birder, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the park during one of its busiest bird seasons.
This program is recommended for beginning to experienced birders and adults and families with older children. Please meet at the Bluebird Barn at 8:00 AM. Be prepared to walk 2-3 miles over both paved and unpaved surfaces. For more details about the route we will take, read the Essential Eligibility Criteria. The walk will last approximately 3 hours and will include stops to look and listen for migrating birds. Binoculars are recommended, but not required. Some binoculars are available to borrow.
The cost of this program is $6 per participant.
Please come prepared with good walking shoes, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Binoculars, a field guide, and a hat are recommended. Dress for the weather and bring insect repellent if needed. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
