Entry forms for the gingerbread house competition organized by Glenwood Springs Historical Society are now available at the nonprofit’s website, GlenwoodHistory.org. Competition entries will be displayed in the Hotel Colorado’s Roosevelt Room as part of the hotel’s annual holiday celebration, with cash and other prizes awarded in both judged and people’s choice categories.Along with Hotel Colorado’s donation of space and equipment, the competition is also made possible by the support of ANB Bank.
Now in its fourth year, the event encourages home cooks and young creators to showcase their food artistry and celebrate the unique history of Glenwood Springs. Proceeds from the competition directly support the historical society’s mission of preserving and sharing that history.
The competition’s opening takes place at Hotel Colorado’s lighting event on November 28, where a community panel will determine Judge’s Choice awards.
A people’s choice competition will also take place, with winning based on the amount of money “votes” earned by each creation during the Hotel Colorado event. Top vote-getters will be displayed for continued voting in the lobby of ANB Bank through December 12, when the people’s choice will be announced. The donations all benefit Glenwood Springs Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Repeated voting is allowed and encouraged.
Cash and other prizes will be awarded to the top vote-getters in each competition.
Throughout the ANB Bank display, a silent auction of special art prints of photographs from the historical society’s collection will take place, with proceeds also benefiting that nonprofit.
The contest is open to three non-professional categories of entrants: adults aged 18 and older who are not employed as bakers or chefs, teens aged 13-17, and children 12 and younger. Entrants can work individually or as part of two-person teams. The entry fee is $10.
A fourth category of creations prepared by professional cooks is by invitation only. Individual and two-person teams comprised of caterers, chefs, bakers, and other culinary professionals will be considered. To receive an invitation, write to [email protected].
Adult submissions must represent a local house, building, landmark, or attraction, but entries in the teen and children categories can depict any creation. Every entry must be accompanied by a short description of the building or creation shown, and information about the design’s inspiration. These stories, submitted on a five-by-eight card, will be displayed alongside the creations.
Registrations for the competition must be submitted before Monday, November 17, 2025. Contestants can download a registration form at GlenwoodHistory.org, then submit the completed entry form by email or regular mail. Entries will be judged for skill and artistry during the November 28th event by a community panel.
