Calling all writers! Your Garfield County Libraries are hosting Garfield County Writing Month (GarCoWriMo) in November to celebrate the art form by helping participants build their writing repertoire, get inspiration, and collaborate with other local writers. We’d love to have you join us for a month of events, workshops, and writing spaces at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. The kickoff workshop will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 30. Then, all Thursdays in November from 6 to 8 p.m. we will host writing collaboration spaces. Tuesdays in November, from 5 to 7 p.m., will include writing time and local writer presentations. The first of which will be on Nov. 4 with Colorado Book Award winner Nathanial White. The second will be on Nov. 11 featuring a talk on inspiration and creativity with Jessica Barnum. The third will be on Nov. 18 featuring a discussion on memoirs with Shelly Merriam. The final will be on Nov. 25 discussing the editing and publishing world with Kristin Carlson. There will also be a flash fiction contest that runs the entire month of November and you can submit a short short or nanofiction story with a complete plot in under 750 words for a chance to win. The last GarCoWriMo event will be a final party from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4. All events are free and open to all adults and teens. For more information visit www.gcpld.org/GarCoWriMo or call the Glenwood Springs Branch Library at 970-945-5958.
