During the 17th century, it served as a makeshift hospital for soldiers wounded at the Battle of Edgehill, the first major conflict of the English Civil War. Today, it is as famous for its architectural mysteries—including hidden priest holes and secret chambers—as it is for the restless spirits that make it one of the town’s most celebrated haunted landmarks.
