Join the Seattle 2030 District for a tour of the Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station.
About this Event

Learn how the GWWTS reduces water pollution and improves aquatic habitat and the overall water quality of the Duwamish River.

The Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station began operating in fall 2022, cleaning millions of gallons of polluted stormwater runoff that would have otherwise flowed directly into the Duwamish River and Puget Sound.

Please come prepared:

  • Dress for the weather! Most of the tour is outside
  • Closed-toe shoes are required
  • All tour participants must be 9 years or older
  • The program will last about two hours, including a half-mile of walking and several flights of stairs. If any accommodations are needed, please let us know
  • Once we are out on the plant (starting at 1:30 pm), leaving early is not an option
  • Please note that every tour participant must wear a hard hat, safety vest, and safety glasses (all provided)
  • Parking can be challenging (see below). Give yourself extra time to find a space! We will start the program at 1pm

There is no on-site parking at GWWTS. We encourage attendees to take public transportation; however, if you do drive, please plan to park off-site.

Parking: Parking in the industrial part of town where the facility is located can be limited. We recommend allowing ample time to find street parking and arrive early to ensure you have enough time.

Public Transit Options:

  • Bus: The area is serviced by several bus routes operated by King County Metro Transit. The closest bus stops are located at S Michigan St & East Marginal Way (Southbound) or 4th Ave S & S Michigan St (Northbound) for Route 132.
  • Light Rail and Bus: Hop off at the nearest light rail station in SODO and take Metro bus routes 131/132 from 4th Ave S & S Lander St to S Michigan St & East Marginal Way
