Department of Biostatistics Picnic
About this Event
Department of Biostatistics Picnic
Join us for the Department of Biostatistics Picnic at beautiful Warren G. Magnuson Park (Shelter #3) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 3:00 PM (PDT)!
After a year of analyzing data, meeting deadlines, and debating the finer points of statistical significance, it’s time to test a different hypothesis: whether biostatisticians can successfully relax outdoors.
Come enjoy fresh air, good company, lawn games, and the rare opportunity to discuss topics other than your dissertation, grant deadlines, or R error messages. Of course, statistical banter is still welcome. Bonus points for p-value jokes, confidence interval puns, and any humor with sufficient power.
The department will provide deli sandwiches and beverages. Feel free to bring a dish to share—whether it’s homemade, store-bought, or selected using a rigorous evidence-based approach.
Please RSVP so we can estimate the sample size for our food order. We are aiming for a low risk of Type I and Type II snack errors.
We hope you’ll join us for an afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship. No data collection required (unless someone starts a cornhole tournament).
