In conjunction with America’s 250th, Debra Sandoe McCauslin will present a program on George Washington Sandoe who was mustered into United States service on June 23, 1863 and lost his life at the hands of Confederates of Coloniel Elijah White’s 35th Virginia Cavalry on June 26, 1863. The town of Gettysburg was under complete control of the Rebels on June 26. A requisition was requested and the town could easily have been burned down. Learn about George Sandoe‘s early death and the events of June 26 based on several women’s diary accounts and newspaper reports. Hear his amazing story.
This is a free and family-friendly event and all are welcome including students over age 12. Doors open at 6:10.
Program begins at 6:30.
There will be capacity for 200 people.
