Join me in the studio for a relaxed and friendly soft pastel workshop where we’ll create this beautiful close-up elephant portrait together.This session is ideal for beginners and improvers who would like to build confidence with soft pastels in a supportive, step-by-step setting. Working close-up allows us to really focus on the elephant’s wonderful wrinkles, gentle expression and those soulful eyes — without feeling overwhelmed by a complicated composition.
You’ll learn how to:
Break the features into simple, manageable sections
Use light and dark to create realistic form
Build texture with easy, effective mark-making
Layer soft pastels without overworking
We’ll be working on velour paper, which is beautifully soft and forgiving — perfect for blending and layering. It’s a lovely surface for beginners as it grips the pastel and helps you achieve rich, velvety depth with less effort.
All materials are provided, so you can simply come along and enjoy the experience without bringing a thing.
As always, there’ll be plenty of encouragement, tea and creative camaraderie along the way ☕✨
You’ll leave with a striking elephant portrait and a real boost in confidence using soft pastels.
